From croc print to warm taupes, here’s exactly what to ask for at the salon this season.

The leaves are finally rusting, your Gilmore Girls rewatch is well underway and Starbucks has relaunched the Pumpkin Spiced Lattes — autumn has officially arrived.

And there’s no better way to lean into the seasonal switch than with a fresh manicure that screams “cosy girl era.”

Sure, the classics still hold their place — we’re talking burnt oranges, burgundies and all the deep reds you can dream of — but this year, nail artists are serving up something a little different. Think leather-look textures, forest-hued French tips and barely-there metallic accents.

L360 asked two of London’s top manicurists to break down the biggest autumn 2025 nail trends.

Best autumn nail trends

1. Animal print, reimagined

Animal print is back, but this season, it’s getting an upgrade. “Replacing last year’s leopard trend, people are leaning into leather-look croc and snake print,” says assistant manager at Shoreditch Nails, Tai Greaves.

The result? Manis that look sleek, tactile and a little edgy. Think rich tones, glossy finishes and high-fashion energy.

2. Polka dots

Spotted nails aren’t just for summer. “We’ve been seeing spots all year, and I don’t think that’s changing,” says Tai. “But people are elevating the look with deeper reds, browns, and even chrome.”

Imagine a classic dotty mani, reimagined in cosy autumnal shades with metallic accents that catch the light.

3. Earthy neutrals are the new nudes

“Warm taupes, soft browns and creamy beiges will be in high demand,” says beautician at Blush + Blow London, Freya Miles. She adds that these grounded tones pair well with autumn wardrobes.

They’re the manicure equivalent of your favourite oversized knit — timeless, comforting and totally wearable.

4. Berry nails

For something a little moodier, Freya says deep berry shades — from juicy plums to near-black cherries — are having a moment.

These ultra-saturated colours feel luxe and dramatic without being too harsh, and look stunning on both short and long nails.

5. Chocolate heaven

Chocolate nails are back and looking more decadent than ever. “Glossy or matte, chocolatey nails are chic and versatile,” Freya explains.

It’s a rich, dimensional shade that works as a neutral but still makes a statement — ideal for anyone who wants something bold without going full goth.

6. Autumnal French tips

The classic French mani is getting a seasonal twist. “Try deep colours like forest green or burgundy for the tips instead of white,” suggests Freya.

It’s a subtle switch that adds an unexpected pop of colour, perfect for anyone who wants to embrace autumn without going all-in on nail art.

7. Minimalist metallic accents

For those who like their nail art barely there, micro details are key.

“Tiny metallic dots, fine lines, or subtle abstract swirls” are big right now, says Freya, adding that they’re perfect for clients who want “detail without drama.” Think minimalist with a whisper of sparkle.

8. Matte finishes

Want your nails to look — and feel — a little different? Try a matte top coat.

“Matte finishes on autumnal shades like browns, berries, and greens give a modern, velvety look,” says Freya. It’s an instant way to make any colour feel more elevated.

9. Nature-inspired nail art

Designs inspired by the changing landscape — subtle leaf motifs, delicate branches, or marble textures in earthy tones — are making waves this season.

“They’re earthy but elegant,” says Freya, and they tap into that cottagecore meets quiet luxury aesthetic we’re all currently obsessed with.
