Because the most special detail of your wedding day isn’t always the one you can see.
Dress? Check. Shoes? Ordered. Something blue? Sorted. Perfume?
For an increasing number of brides, fragrance is becoming the beauty detail that matters most. It lingers quietly in the background of every moment: slipping into your dress, walking down the aisle, saying “I do”. And then, months — or even years — later, the scent brings the feelings all rushing back.
With my own wedding coming up this year, perfume has taken on a deeper significance for me. I’m looking for a scent I can spray years from now and instantly be taken back.
“Scent has the power to evoke emotive memories,” says Jonny Webber, fragrance expert at Perfume Direct. “Your wedding fragrance becomes part of your personal story […], so whenever you catch a whiff of it afterwards, you’re transported to your perfect day.”

Clean wedding day scents
Google searches for ‘clean wedding day scents’ and ‘minimalist fragrances’ have doubled this year, with more brides leaning towards scents that sit close to the skin — less statement, more second self.
“In the same way that natural makeup is trending in 2026, skin-like scents are incredibly popular right now because they feel personal and refined. They’re designed to complement rather than dominate,” says Jonny.
It’s you, but elevated. They fit into the ‘clean girl’ aesthetic that’s been prevalent for years.

Modern floral wedding perfumes
Florals for a wedding aren’t going anywhere, but they’re modernising. Where once bridal fragrance leaned heavily into traditional bouquets, 2026’s versions feel lighter and more nuanced. Expect rose sharpened with green notes, or peony softened with sheer musks.
“Florals remain a staple, but they’re being reimagined with fresher, more contemporary notes,” says Jonny.
The result is something that still feels romantic, but less expected.

Gourmand wedding perfumes
Gourmand fragrances have been having a resurgence over the past few years, and in 2026, they’re a little more sophisticated.
They’re less about sweetness and more about texture — creamy vanilla layered with woods, spice and soft musks. The result is something warm, enveloping and indulgent.
“They offer comfort and confidence […] evolving as you move from the ceremony through to the evening celebration,” says Jonny.

His and hers wedding fragrances: how to choose complementary couple scents
One of the more subtle shifts this year is the idea of fragrance as something shared.
Rather than choosing entirely separate scents, couples are opting for perfumes that feel connected — linked by a note, a mood or a shared warmth.
“More couples are exploring fragrance as a shared experience,” says Jonny. “It’s not about wearing the same scent, but choosing fragrances that complement each other.”

Wedding scent consultations: how to choose your bridal perfume
As weddings become increasingly detail-driven, fragrance is being treated with the same level of intention as everything else — from tablescapes to playlists.
With wedding season 2026 approaching, Lush is leaning into this shift with free, bespoke wedding scent consultations across its UK and Ireland stores. Designed for couples to attend together or individually, the experience focuses on finding a fragrance that reflects not just personal taste, but the entire atmosphere of the day.
“Crafting the perfect wedding day is often regarded as an important life milestone. The scents we surround ourselves with should be intentional, enhancing how we want to feel and helping to create beautiful memories,” says Lee Howes, fragrance category lead at Lush.
The consultations go beyond simply choosing a perfume. Instead, they explore the full picture — season, setting, colour palette, even music and food — before translating it into scent. The result is something far more considered: a fragrance that feels aligned with the moment, rather than separate from it.
