L360’s pasta fiend Evelyn Richards tests whether Pasta Evangelists’ new meal kits are better than ordering a mid-week takeaway.

Let’s be real — after long days at work, the last thing my fiancée and I want to do is spend hours in the kitchen.

But we also don’t want to live on sad, last-minute takeaways.

Enter Pasta Evangelists and its restaurant-quality recipe kits, promising fresh pasta bliss in just 10 minutes.

Too good to be true? I had to find out.

Great vegetarian options

As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see plenty of meat-free options on the menu.

I went for a triple threat of indulgence: miso and harissa-spiced lentil ragu with rigatoni (£12 for a double portion), wholegrain triangoli (triangular filled pasta) with pistachio, cashew and chilli pesto (£12 for a double portion) and the pièce de resistance — four-cheese lingotti (rectangular filled pasta) with truffle cacio e pepe (cheese and pepper), (£16.50 for a double portion).

You can also add sides like focaccia and desserts such as tiramisu, but these are sold pre-made, rather than as a DIY kit.

How easy are they to make?

I was pleasantly surprised at how ridiculously easy these kits are to make.

You literally just cook the fresh pasta, heat the sauce (adding a splash of pasta water) and sometimes sprinkle on some cheese. That’s it. No chopping, no complicated steps — just instant la dolce vita in under 10 minutes.

Perfect for anyone who loves good food but doesn’t have time for a MasterChef moment every night.

How do they taste?

First up, the cacio e pepe. A little kitchen mishap (too much pasta water — oops!), but honestly, it was still creamy, indulgent and packed with truffle depth.

Next time, I’d measure a little more carefully, but even with my mistake, it was dreamy.

Then came the miso and harissa-spiced lentil ragu. Rich, a little fiery and incredibly satisfying — it felt hearty but still refined.

Reading about the dish on the Pasta Evangelists’ website, I found that Italians view lentils as being coin-shaped, and so it’s customary to make a wish while enjoying the meal. My wish? For more pasta.

Finally, the triangoli with pistachio, cashew and chilli pesto was ‘chef’s kiss’. Nutty, slightly spicy and perfectly balanced, this one felt straight out of an upscale trattoria.

Are they worth the money?

Absolutely. Starting from £6 each, these kits are way cheaper than ordering Pasta Evangelists as a takeaway (where each dish costs £9.50-£15 per person).

Plus, with next-day delivery, they’re an easy way to keep your fridge stocked with gourmet-level meals without the guilt of another Deliveroo splurge.

Bonus points for shelf life — the kits last over a week in the fridge and can be frozen for up to a month, making them a total lifesaver for busy weeknights.

I couldn’t pick a favourite dish because they were all genuinely very impressive. I wouldn’t usually have chosen pesto pasta as I was overfed it as a child, but even I was licking the bowl by the end.

These kits are perfect for a romantic night in, a dinner party flex (minimal effort, maximum wow-factor) or just when you want a luxury meal without the luxury price tag.
