Easter doesn’t have to be all about rabbit ears and chocolate eggs — here are 10 ideas for how we think you could fill the four-day weekend in the capital.
With a glorious Easter bank holiday ahead, we’ve got four full days to enjoy. These long weekends don’t come around often, so let’s make sure we don’t waste them — it’s the perfect time to get out and enjoy the city and all it has to offer.
Whether you’re after family-friendly outings, one-off Easter events, or simply some inspiration for how to spend the long weekend, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite ideas to help you make the most of it.
Explore the city on a scavenger hunt
If you’re up for a challenge with friends this Easter, go on an outdoor, self-guided mystery hunt through the streets of London with StreetHunt Games. There are two story-driven games to choose from. The Case of Colombia’s Finest centres on Jim Robusta’s coffee business, where something suspicious is brewing and players must uncover the truth. In Will Breaker, you’ve inherited your uncle’s estate — but only if you can solve the puzzles he left behind. Both games are designed for teams of two to five, take one to two hours to complete, and cost from £16.50 per person.

Hunt for eggs at Battersea Power Station
The folks at Battersea Power Station never miss an opportunity to create something special for a holiday, and this year is no exception. From now until 27 April, the remodelled venue and riverside neighbourhood is part of The Big Egg Hunt — a free, city-wide trail showcasing large-scale egg sculptures. Battersea Power Station is home to the largest collection, featuring 21 designs from notable artists like Mr Doodle, LUAP, Ryan Lanji, Shantanu, Fanakapan and Nikhil. Over Easter weekend, it will also host its first-ever chocolate market, The Chocolate Station, with stalls selling sweet delights such chocolate eggs and truffles. Plus, enjoy family-friendly activities such as bungee trampolines and bumper cars.

Practice your swing at a high-tech mini golf course
If you’re into mini golf, Puttshack’s upscale, tech-enabled courses offer a more interactive way to play, with locations in Bank, White City, Watford and Lakeside. Using its Trackaball system, each player’s ball is registered to track scores throughout, so all you have to worry about is the game itself. Points are awarded — or lost — based on how each hole is played, adding a new layer to the traditional mini golf experience. Adults can try a limited-edition chocolate martini, made with vodka, coffee and salted caramel. Between 5 and 21 April, children can eat for free from the kids’ menu when accompanied by a paying adult.
Kick off the weekend with live music and tequila
Start the bank holiday as you mean to go on — listening to soul music with a cocktail in hand. On Thursday 17 April, Mexican tequila brand Pancho Datos is hosting an evening of live entertainment at Malt Bar in Maltby Street. Enjoy soulful performances from singers like Aisha Khan and Sonya Titus while you sit back, relax and sip on a selection of bespoke tequila cocktails. Tickets for the event are limited, at a cost of £11.55, and Pancho Datos’s Stuart Wischhusen will also be on hand for free tequila tasting of the brand’s award-winning Plata and Reposado tequilas.

Party on a rooftop in Brixton
Pergola Brixton has had a seasonal makeover just in time for the Easter bank holiday. In collaboration with Altos Tequila, the rooftop venue is serving a selection of seasonal drinks, including margaritas, palomas and a tequila colada slushie. A bottomless brunch also runs from Friday to Sunday, with 90 minutes of drinks (such as beer, bubbles or rum punch) alongside tacos or nachos for £40 per person. DJs will be playing throughout the weekend, so whether you’re after a laid-back afternoon with food and drinks or something a little livelier, it’s the perfect way to make the most of the bank holiday — and hopefully, its good weather.

Create spring floral arrangements at a Bloomsbury cafe
Adorned in spring blooms, Dalloway Terrace cafe is hosting a flower-arranging masterclass on Saturday 19 April with florist Richard Eagleton. For £100 per person, take part in a two-hour hands-on workshop where you’ll learn to craft your own hand-tied bouquet, while enjoying brunch bites and a Silent Pool Gin cocktail. From 7 to 21 April, families can take advantage of a bumblebee-themed children’s afternoon tea (complimentary with every adult tea booked). On Easter Sunday, the terrace will serve a special roast menu, featuring dishes like Cornish lamb, porchetta or wild mushroom wellington. For something lighter, the spring menu includes fresh options such as Devonshire crab with brioche or artichoke risotto with black truffle.
