Perhaps more known for her appearance on ITVBe’s The Real Housewives of Cheshire, Dr Hanna Kinsella is also the CEO of Icy Bear Dental. Here, she exclusively reveals to Living360 how to achieve a winning smile in time for the new year.

When it comes to our teeth, some of us don’t do enough, and some of us do too much.

Maintaining a bright, white smile is not the easiest of tasks — especially for those who favour tea and coffee — and sometimes a visit to the dentist twice a year for a hygiene appointment isn’t enough.

On the flip side, paying for an ultra-expensive treatment like veneers or composite bonding can not only create a gaping hole in your bank account, but it can also be a nuisance to maintain.

The price of professional whitening can be expensive, and even the CEO of a dental whitening company (AKA Dr Hanna) acknowledges that this isn’t the only answer. So, if your new year resolutions include taking better care of your teeth, here’s everything you need to know.

What’s one thing that you always recommend people to do for their teeth?

“I always emphasise the importance of cleaning between the teeth,” Dr Hanna explains.

“Whether that’s floss, interdental brushes or a water flosser, it makes a huge difference. Most early signs of gum disease and decay begin in the areas a toothbrush can’t reach, so looking after those spaces is essential for long-term oral health.”

What are some steps people can take to getting a brighter, whiter smile?

“A brighter smile starts with consistency. Daily habits such as thorough cleaning, using a fluoride toothpaste and paying attention to stains from coffee, tea or red wine go a long way.”

She adds that professional whitening — whether in-clinic or a dentist-developed product like Icy Bear — can also safely lift the colour of the teeth.

“The key is choosing products that protect enamel while whitening, rather than relying on harsh abrasives or unregulated treatments.”

What should you be careful of when whitening teeth?

“People should be cautious of anything that promises instant results or uses highly abrasive ingredients,” Dr Hanna warns.

“Scrubbing the enamel or using unregulated whitening agents can cause long-term sensitivity and damage that’s difficult to reverse. I also always advise to avoid frequent sipping of acidic or sugary drinks, as they soften the enamel and make it more prone to staining.”

What are your top teeth products that you would recommend?

“I suggest focusing on routines that are simple, safe and effective, much like the Icy Clean Routine. A whitening toothpaste with fluoride is the foundation, as it strengthens enamel while supporting a brighter smile. I also rely on a mouthwash that targets bacteria and gum health, a water flosser for thorough interdental cleaning, and a tongue scraper to keep the mouth fresh and balanced. Used together each day, these steps create a routine that covers every part of oral hygiene in a really manageable way.”
