Best brands to shop for Black Friday tech and homeware deals

Apple

The best deals tend to land on high-ticket favourites, but the catch is that it’s often the retailers, not Apple itself that slashes prices.

Last year, Apple offered gift cards worth up to £10 with selected purchases rather than straight discounts, while retailers like Amazon and Currys knocked up to £81 off Macs and around 10% off iPads.

Our tip: Skip the Apple Store and head straight to those retailers early, the biggest discounts often drop first. Compare Currys, John Lewis and Amazon before buying.

Samsung — save up to £300

Wide-ranging products and multi-category discounts mean you can get major savings with Samsung, from Galaxy phones to bundle deals that include Galaxy Buds, tablets and more.

Last year saw up to £300 off Galaxy phones, 20-25% off tablets and watches and strong bundle savings on TVs and soundbars.

Our tip: Samsung’s direct-to-consumer stores tend to run early Black Friday sales, so head to one of these (or shop online) ahead of the main event to snag the best deals first.

Our tip: check the Dyson site for official bundles but check Currys and John Lewis for price matches and extras thrown in.

Shark — save up to 40%

Dyson’s biggest rival — known for matching quality at a lower price, with bigger percentage discounts and, of course, some of the best-known dupes on the market.

Last year’s deals were huge: 25-40% off vacuums and hair tools — incredible value and easily the best time of year to buy.

Our tip: Check for refurbished models on Shark’s official website, these come with the same warranty but for less.

The Ordinary — save up to 50%

Cult favourite skincare brand The Ordinary typically adopts a slower approach, running a month-long 23% off ‘Slovember’ sale instead of a one-day or week frenzy sale.

With its already accessible prices, this is a great time to restock on essentials like niacinamide or hyaluronic acid serums.

Our tip: The brand sometimes spotlights select items at 50% off, so check the site regularly throughout the month, but act early as there may be a set inventory quantity.

L’Oréal Paris — save up to 50%

Spanning skincare, haircare and makeup, L’Oréal Paris consistently features in major Black Friday events.

In past years, selected haircare products from Elvive and Revitalift have appeared in sales with discounts of more than half price.

Our tip: Check Boots, Superdrug and Amazon, which often compete on price and stock L’Oréal in multi-buy promos, just don’t wait too long as bestsellers go fast.

Living360’s Black Friday shopping tips

Its all very well knowing which brands are offering discounts and which products you’ve already got your eye on, but if you really want to do the sales right, a little strategising is in order.

  • Track prices before you buy: use a site like camelcamelcamel.com to check whether a deal is genuinely good — some retailers have been known to hike up prices before the sale day to make discounts appear steeper than they are.
  • Sign up for newsletters: it’s not glamorous (and may involve setting a post-sale afternoon aside to unsubscribe from all), but it pays off to get first access to flash sales and discount codes.
  • Shop around: check a few different retailers before you commit as prices can vary more than you think and many may undercut competitors.
  • Set price alerts: use price-tracking tools or apps to monitor specific brands or products so you’re notified as soon as they drop.
  • Check for price matches: some retailers will match or beat competitors’ deals so its worth a quick comparison before buying.
