If you’ve ever battled with streaky legs, biscuit-scented skin or patchy tan lines, you’re not alone. I’ve tried just about every fake tan on the market — and made just about every fake-tan mistake possible. Which is why, these days, I stick to what actually works: tanning drops.

These clever, glow-giving formulas have completely changed how I tan. Just a few drops mixed into your moisturiser is all it takes to achieve that radiant, healthy-looking complexion — minus the orange tones, patchiness or drama.

Whether you want a deep bronze or a subtle golden boost, these tried-and-tested favourites of mine are sure to give you a flawless faux glow, every time.

How to use tanning drops — my top tips

Below are my fool proof hacks to achieve a perfect glow every time:

  • Start with clean, exfoliated skin to ensure an even, streak-free application.
  • Mix a few drops with your favourite moisturiser. I pop the moisturiser and drops on the back of my hand and mix; this works better than applying directly to face.
  • Customise your glow — more drops mean a deeper tan.
  • Pay extra attention to hairlines, ears, eyebrows and jawlines for a seamless finish.
  • Wash hands with soap immediately after application to avoid stained palms.
  • Apply before bed for an overnight glow, or top up every few days to maintain a natural bronze.
